How do i add file types (eg. zip files) to my seed page in matrix for search?

Hi,

I'm unable to search for video files (wmv,swf,mp4) and zip files on the front end of my site.  I've updated the collection.cfg file to include those file types in Funnelback, but I've just realised they're not included on my seed page in matrix.

On the Details screen of my seed page, I've added 'Video File' into the 'Asset types to List' (so hopefully that will work for the videos) -  see attached screenshot, but zip file types aren't in the drop-down list in order to add them.

Does anyone know how I can add the zip files into my seed page so that Funnelback will be able to search on them?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Libby

I've figured it out!  Yay! (yes, I am a newbie) .

On the Details screen of my seed page, under Asset Selection> Asset Types to List, I just added plain old "File" from the list.  I then copied the keyword replacements text on the Edit Contents screen of the other type formats that were already set up.  My seed page is now picking up all of the files I need, so that Funnelback will be able to find them.

Hi Libby, Nice work. Any files that don't have a corresponding specific asset type in Matrix will show up as that generic 'File' asset. If you tick the inherit box, it will list any specific type of file as well - but this might lead you to display other files that you don't really want indexed by Funnelback. What you've done is probably the best way to go for now.

Are your files now showing up after FB re-index?

Hi Chris,

Thanks.  No it didn't work after re-indexing. I looked further into it this morning and I think I updated the wrong seed page. I was updating the external-metadata seed page asset.  Since then I've gone in and have updated the 'all content' seed page. I forced an update in FB, but still no luck. I can see the assets I'm looking for in both seed page lists (the external metadata one and the all content one), but I still can't find them in FB search (or our live site). So close, yet so far.  I've just logged a ticket 16315.
