Integrate WordPress into Matrix

Has anyone integrated a blog built in WordPress (successfully) into Matrix?

We have a client interested in doing this and I was hoping someone may be able to provide advice on how to manage this best. A thread by nickobec was started around 5 years ago so I'm guessing some things may have changed since then.

Ideally we would like the blog articles and commenting facilities to be accessed via the Matrix site to the point that no one would ever see the WordPress side of things. Probably don't need to worry about users creating login accounts but the ability to search the blog posts would be required. Would the site admins be able to publish content from within Matrix to WordPress so that all the authoring can take place inside Matrix?

I guess some of the additional stuff I'm not sure on is whether or not we need to create a WordPress theme similar to the main website if we are using a DB Data Source or Remote Content. I would assume that the WordPress installation would need to be either set up on the Matrix server with read access for Matrix, or set up WordPress externally and reference it via another domain, e.g. blog.mysite.com. Is there any additional server packages that need to be installed? Would the Squid set up have any impact?
