Hi all
Is it possible for someone to explain how are 'locks is displayed on a user detail screen'.
For example if a user doesn’t hold any locks in a site on an admin interface currently.
But when he or she right click on there username and acquire the lock, it automatically displays 6 locks, theoretically it should display 1 lock, should it not.
cheers

Matrix locks each screen on each asset individually, so that locking a User asset (for example) would probably need at least 6 locks.

Which screen are you looking at to see the number of locks (?user details?)
Just curious.

Yes, the user details screen shows the number of locks a user currently holds and has the option to release all of them.
To explain a little more, Matrix uses multiple locks for each asset. Each lock is used to edit part of the asset. This allows, for example, someone to edit the metadata of an asset while someone else is editing the permissions.

If someone was in Simple Edit though they would gain multiple locks on all aspects of an asset while they were editing it or is it only the aspects of the asset that are editable via the Simple Edit Interface?
Just interested

Admin and Simple Edit work the same in this case; users get the locks required to edit the elements they are currently viewing. So they wont get a permission lock unless they are looking at a screen with an interface that requires that lock type.

Locks are not required for workflow, as status changes don’t require a lock.
