Is this paint layout or design used?

(Steve Brown) #1

Hi,

We are doing some spring cleaning and am trying to throw out a few things that may have been created a long time ago but possibly never used.

Is there a way to check whether a design or paint layout has been used in the system?

along a similar vein, is it possible to work out ALL the assets that a particular metadata schema has been applied to?

Thanks,

Steve

You can do this by checking the linking screen. This will show you all the different kind of links that the asset has.

Paint layouts dont work. But you're rigth about designs - they seem to show where they are applied.

Are paint layouts meant to do the same thing?

For Designs and Design Customisations you can also look at the "Usage" screen.

If the interface doesn't provide a simple mechanism, we can check your database for you. You could ask Squiz Support to do this.

My bad. Yes, the usage screen works for Paint Layouts as well.

Thats exactly what I need - thanks all.

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a way to get an entire list of assets that use a certain paint layout. The usage screen will tell me an asset id and a count of children below that but I need the asset ids of those children too. I know about the GetPaintLayoutFromUrl method in the SOAP API but I am on version 4.12.3 and that isn't available for me. Is there an easy way to get this from the database even? Thanks.
