Just an Idea

(Ryan Callaghan) #1

So,

I bounced this idea off one of the Project Managers, he wasn't sure if would be a good idea cause there is a lot of different ways to do different things with matrix.

But this is my idea.

I want to set up a website with a step by step guide on setting up certain assets in MySource Matrix (Each Version) if I have enough time :P~ sort of a MySource Matrix Resource Website for Implementers, or people who want to learn how to Implement in MySource Matrix.

For Example.

Setting up RSS feeds for Asset Listings, and externally

Setting up Asset Builders to do EXACTLY what you need.

Asset Listing Customisations (for beginners)

&

MySource Tags what they are used for, and a resource for "Pruned" tags for example navigation MySource Tags because as an Implementer you seem to take some items out or add onto a basic structure.

And of course much much more, I just think It would be cool for people to maybe get a look at Implementing from an Implementers point of view and how they would build it and so forth (With video/audio and text guides), because some people learn better when being shown as aposed to reading.

Would this be something some people would be interested in beginners & Implementers a like?

Yeah, great idea. Here is a great place for you to start matrixusers.com and there is the community site Nic is pioneering, which will someday see the light of day.

(Duncan Robertson) #3

Ryan, community.squiz.pl launches next week and this is exactly the content we're writing. Why don't you drop Nic and I an email and we'll get you building as soon as possible?

(Ryan Callaghan) #4

Well there you go :P~

What do you want me to email you and which email address?

Another question, why are you hosting it on a .pl (poland) domain name? :P~

(Duncan Robertson) #5

Don't have a clue about the pl thing. That's what we were given, and in the spirit of not looking a gift horse in the mouth we just got busy building.

Get in touch with Nic and I and we'll get you into the system as soon as possible to start writing tutorials. DM me if you're interested or need contact details…

Yeah, this is the domain we were given, as it is hosted by Squiz Poland. If you would like to get us a community.squiz.net address we would be thrilled!

As for help, we would absolutely love to have it! We need all the tutorials that we can get. And the more brains we have on the project the better it will be!

second edit: i cannot believe this, can someone look into this mad wysiwyg?

third edit: alright I remove the emoticon, so you are happy wysiwyg?

(Ryan Callaghan) #9

I'll see what I can do about the .net :P~

Hopefully I dont get into trouble tho.

Edit: JP gave the .net the go ahead so nic you might get contacted by greg at some stage.

(Greg Sherwood) #10

I've already sorted out the .net for Nic. It was an oversight when we originally sorted it out because the Polish office were given the job.

(Nic Hubbard) #11

Yup, we are all good to go for http://community.squiz.ne.

We will be launching on Oct. 12 which is when people can start registering and adding their own tutorials as well as exploring the admin interface of Matrix. I have given out a few system admin accounts, but I am keeping those limited. So, stay tuned for a sweet looking create tutorial form and a brand new awesome looking site, you won’t be disappointed!

(Duncan Robertson) #12

I have an admin account. It's more precious than a Google Wave account.

Of course you have an admin account, you are the mastermind behind the beautiful design of the site!

(Ryan Callaghan) #14

I hope I get an admin account :P~ cant check till I get to work :<

(Tbaatar) #15

So admin accounts are going for Squiz Staff and anyone with 500 + posts on this forum :stuck_out_tongue:

:)’ /> Not at all. Duncan and I are the ones who have built the MySource Matrix Community from scratch, so obviously we are admins. We wanted to have some tutorials up before the launch, so I let some others in early. We are not just throwing around admin accounts. <img src=‘http://forums.matrix.squiz.net/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif’ class=‘bbc_emoticon’ alt=’

Togo, you make me laugh!

(Ryan Callaghan) #18

If I knew about the community I would have helped build it :P~

Big wigs? Greg I never knew…
