Live chat support

(David Wallace) #1

Hi

Has anyone had experience implementing a live chat support service? eg: like this type of thing https://www.tawk.to/

I’m interested in hearing good/bad experiences, recommendations and squiz setup suggestions.

If this isn’t on topic Squiz enough, just delete it Mod.

Thanks

We’re using Live Chat from Zendesk on a number of our site pages (e.g. http://www.waikato.ac.nz/study/qualifications/master-of-information-technology).

Experience so far seems to be pretty good, but it is a commercial product ($$$). We looked at a number of tools, and various comparison sites like http://www.chattooltester.com/

Deploying it to a page just required some additional JS, which we packaged into the pages we want via Google Tag Manager (GTM) which we use to deploy Google Analytics - no squiz setup required beyond the GTM code inclusion in the designs.

Thanks for the reply Douglas.

That’s a good idea using Tag Manager. I have it installed for analytics and events but haven’t heard how to use it for including JS code.

Can you give me a Primer?

I’m not our Analytics expert, but I believe I’m correct in saying that we’re just using standard GTM custom tags (see https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/6107167?hl=en) to include selected JS to targeted pages.
