Matrix asset manager click

(Gjboyd7) #1

Hi

The Java asset manager in matrix is very tedious to use and frustrating.  Basic things like getting the menus, asset id's, to appear is literally driving me insane.  When the menu's do appear, its always in a random location on the screen.  Also moving stuff to the trash, that's also a joy. Any scope for fixing this asset manager up in the future to fix these basic usability issues?

I am using Firefox on Mac by the way.

The Modern Asset Map (javascript asset map) was released in 4.18.0, back in November 2013. It completely replaces the old java asset map.

The issues you are having with the java asset map is most likely due to your java version.

What version of Matrix are you using?

I am using the trial version of matrix downloaded from the website, it says that it is version 4.18.0.  http://manuals.matrix.squizsuite.net/evaluate-squiz-matrix

Does the trial on the website not ship with the javascript version of the asset map?

Pretty sure Nic meant to type 4.18 !

I think in 4.18 the modern (javascript) asset map is an option, not the default. You should be able to turn it on in the system admin screens.

Scanning through the system config screen, there is no such option.  So how do you turn it on?

Ha! Yes, I meant 4.18.

@gavin1211 - In Global Preferences there is a "Use Modern Asset Map" option:

Screen%20Shot%202014-02-11%20at%209.20.0

That is so much better, thanks.

That is so much better, thanks.

Just a note. The Modern Asset Map is activated by default on all new Matrix installs, so this is a good thing for new users.
