Just curious, when creating a new asset, in the $link_info array, could an array of asset objects be passed in as the parent assets? Or, can it only be one?
How does the asset builder achieve this when creating/linking an asset in multiple places?

I believe it is one. Asset builder will create the asset in a single location first and then link it to the other locations.
Remember that the first link is not special in any way, and all links are treated equal thereafter as well.
