MySource Matrix Cookbook

(Tavernerj) #1

Hi All,

As I'm going through the latter stages of deployment of Matrix I just wanted to float the idea of a "MySource Matrix Cookbook", where common tasks/problems might be documented. I'd like to see either a formal Squiz version or perhaps a Wiki where everybody who's ever dealt with Matrix might contribute.

Personally I've found the Martix courses very valuable, but yet I still find myself frequently stopping to think about how I might go about building the various aspects of our site (due to the shear number of options). Then I find myself reassessing how I did some things (after acquainting myself more intimately with the product) & thinking to myself that perhaps I might have not done some things the best way.

Any thoughts ???

Cheers Julian

Its a great idea and one that I've wanted to get stuck into for a while, but still haven't found the time. We used to have a Wiki, but it really didn't get a lot of traffic. Having said that, the forums are a great place to share ideas and a few people have started to do that with how-tos and other nifty things.

How about a new forum section called "Tips and Tricks" or something, and we could pin all the really useful threads there.

That could work, what I'd really like to see is the different perspectives of how people approach things. I find that people from different backgrounds will approach things differently, & will provide you with a number of options that you often can't see or are aware of (not through lack of trying though ;) )

Sounds like a good plan. We'll have a chat about it internally and make sure everyone is OK with it.
