I'm trying to override a banner image using the design customisation.
Following Chapter 4 of the Design manual, I upload an image, as a child of the Customisation, with the same name as the image I want to replace.
I get an error meassge saying the file name is already in use by a sibling of the Customisation.
Any ideas?

Hi Pete,
Rather than creating a new image asset, go to the details screen of the customisation and upload the image as an associated file (same as you would to upload files to a design). When you do it this way, Matrix manages the paths and filenames to allow your new image to override the one set further up the customisation hierarchy.
Casey.
Casey,
This is what I've been doing - using the Details screen of the Design Customisation - I may have explained myself inelegantly.
This is when I get the error message

Interesting. Well it should work in that case. But since it's not:
When a design customisation is created, each associated file which is required by the customisation is type-3 linked beneath that customisation. If you go to the linking screen of an asset linked under your design parse file, you will see a bunch of type-3 links, one for each design customisation.
Go to the linking screen of the conflicting asset (the one you're trying to override) and find the type-3 link which corresponds to the customisation you're trying to create the new asset under. Delete it. You should then be able to upload your new image under the customisation as there should no longer be a conflicting URL.
Note that in the time between deleting the type-3 link and uploading the new image, you may get MySource warnings saying it can't find the image you've just deleted on pages which have the customisation applied. So if this is a live site, try to keep that time short.

Brilliant! Deleting that type 3 link did the job. Banners are changing over nicely
Thank you I was tearing my hair out!!!!
Clicking on the original image asset and Deleting the TYPE 3 link to the content div of the new area at first didn't work,
Then I remembered the image id's were hardcoded into the Page Banner contents content, quick change and done!
