Paint layout on an asset listing (sorting)

(Ryan Archer) #1

Is it possible to get asset sorting options to work on an asset listing which has a paint layout over the top of it?

I've used the paint layout to customise the information displayed from the asset listing page - but the asset listing page now seems to ignore all asset sorting rules I have placed on it.

Furthermore this asset listing page is intended to list out numerous news item assets, ordering them by date as default. I have made a special metadata field within a schema and applied it to all of these news items so that there is a checkbox for 'featured item'.

This works great when the paint layout is NOT applied to the asset listing page but when it is - it does not work. Is it possible to make it work?

So the Asset Listing itself has a paintlayout applied? Can you provide the details of that Paint Layout.

Also which version of Matrix are you running?

Hi Anthony. I am using version 5.3

I sorted my issue out. I created an asset listing and paint layout beast as it was my first project using Squiz Matrix ever.

My issue was that I had an asset listing with a paint layout applied and nested in that paint layout was another asset listing which was calling upon more asset listings (making a wannabe Squiz blog).

Deal is that the _root asset should never have been an asset listing in the first place - I just had the project sponsor and manager come to me with new suggestions on a weekly basis so I kept building on top of the mix of assets.

Yeah I learned an important lesson here....
