Performance mode not available to Simple Edit Users?

(Andrew Harris) #1

I noticed today, that /_performance mode returned a permission error for a logged in Simple Edit User. User had admin permission on the asset.

Is this expected? I was sure it used to work for Simple Edit Users.

Maybe just going mad.

Just checked with the devs, user needs to have at least write access to the asset and have access to the admin mode. So it’s not accessible for Simple Edit Users.

Updated the documentation on https://matrix.squiz.net/manuals/concepts/chapters/performance-mode to reflect that.

Oh, bother! Going to have to rework some of my training materials too!

Thanks for following up.

Having a performance tab similar to https://matrix.squiz.net/manuals/edit-plus/chapters/analytics-screen would seem a useful addition here, although I’m mindful that more tabs = more complexity = more user training and hand holding.

At first, I though it would be too limited having it at the individual asset level, because it wouldn’t monitor the performance of the design or any paint layouts.

But then, maybe that’s not a bad thing - after all, the Edit+ user should be focussed on what they can control - not what is given to them as part of the parse file, or paint layout.

I’m liking the idea!
