Php 5.3

(Dorian Borg) #1

Hi,

http://matrix.squiz.net/resources/requirements specifies that version 3.22.2 and later do not support PHP 5.3 and that only version 4.x does . Does this still apply?  if no, could somebody please specify which was the first version to support PHP 3.x?

I know Version 3.26.3 does not work on 5.3.. I would like to know which next version works with PHP 5.3

thank you

Dorian

Hi Dorian,

MySource Matrix has been superseeded by Squiz Matrix. That site is a legacy site and is there for archival purposes only.

Please visit http://manuals.matrix.squizsuite.net/requirements to view the most up to date minimum requirements.

Hi Bart,

Thank you for your reply.

We require this info concerning version 3.x since we are running an older version of matrix. The update to the latest version of 4.x will not be done at one go, but in most probably in two stages.  We were looking into the possibility of cloning the existent set up, upgrading to the version which supports php version 5.3 and then transfer the installation to new server (running php 5.3).  From there, upgrade to version 4.x

This is why we need to know which is the oldest version of mysource matrix 3.x which supports php 5.3

thank you

No versions of Matrix 3.x officially support PHP 5.3, and all will likely throw errors and warnings when installing or upgrading on 5.3. PHP 5.3 support was added and tested between July and Oct 2010 and went into what was to be version 3.30.0, but this was later renamed to 4.0.0.

So you'll want to upgrade from your version to a 4.x version. They are the same codebase and same interface, but 4.0.0 coincided with the name change from MySource Matrix to Squiz Matrix. All current version of Matrix will still run on 5.1/5.2 as well, so you can upgrade to the latest version on whatever PHP version you are running, and then move it to a newer server from there.
