PHP 5.6 vs 7.3 performance in terms of SEO?

Currently our version of Matrix is in PHP 5.6 and I understand in terms of raw performance PHP 7.3 is vastly superior.

Will this gained speed improve google page speed score and in general SEO for the front end?

Has anyone ever did test of the same website with these versions of PHP?

Moving forward is Squiz going to be proactively supporting latest versions of PHP e.g 7.4 when its released end of next month? and would Squiz CMs benefit from the preloader functionality?

Thanks.

Upgrading your PHP version to 7.3 will indeed bring significant performance improvements. It can positively impact your Google PageSpeed score and overall SEO for the front end. While I haven’t done specific tests on the same website, many studies and experts have highlighted the benefits of upgrading PHP versions. As for Squiz, it’s always beneficial to stay up to date with the latest PHP versions for security, performance, and compatibility reasons. Also, conducting enterprise seo audits (you can find a helpful guide on VikingLinks) can help uncover other optimization opportunities for your website.
