Would it be possible to have the details of accessing the public cvs put on the new Matrix website? It is only on the old and I am sure new users have no clue it is there.
If people go to download it, there is a Manual Installation link on that page that you can click. It takes you to a page with a link to the web interface and a link to the checkout script you can use to checkout a version: http://matrix.squizsuite.net/quick-start-guide/manual-installation
We don't promote it heavily because it doesn't get much use after a manual install is performed. Although we do link to it in blog posts, bug reports and forum entries when it is beneficial.
