Related Asset metadata in Asset Builder Page?

(Stuart W) #1

Hi everyone,

I have been using the new Related Asset metadata type with a calendar to display links to download documents in the detail of each single calendar event.

I am now trying to create an Asset Builder Page to allow the editor to create the necessary calendar events but when I add the Related Asset fields to the page using the keyword %metadata-F_238206% (the number being the asset number of the particular metadata field), they just appear as greyed out boxes that cannot be edited.

Is it possible to add the Related Asset metadata to an Asset Builder Page so that the editor can find the required assets and select them or can it only be done in the EES?

Cheers

Stu

From memory I think the related asset metadata field requires the java applet as the asset selector, which means it probably won't work on an asset builder form.

If you want it to work on an asset builder, it might be easier to use a text field and to enter an asset ID into the text field. You can then use the asset IDs as replacement root nodes for the asset listing that lists the download links.

Thanks, Chris. I thought that would probably be the case - Asset builder Forms are, after all, to make things easier for editors that don't need to see the EES! I think I will just train the editor in question where to complete the metadata in the EES.

Cheers
