Can you remap a pdf from one area to another eg:
I want to delete this file:
http://www.csu.edu.au/forms/docs/special-consideration.pdf
New file: http://student.csu.edu.au/administration/forms/assessment-forms/special-consideration.pdf
web path added
I can do this on a standard page asset without any problems is this something that can't be done on pdf's
Remapping a PDF
Why do you need to remap this? Does the PDF file have both URLs at the moment(that is, linked to 2 different sites)?
Matrix asset inherits its URL from its location in asset tree. If you place it under siteA, it will have URL of siteA/xx.
http://www.csu.edu.a…nsideration.pdf
This URL suggests the file is located underneath www.csu.edu.au site at the moment.
If you move the file to a location under http://student.csu.edu.au, the asset will be given a new URL of student.csu.edu.au/xx
If the asset is linked to both locations. It will have both URLs.
When Matrix displays the link to the asset in a front end page, it will smartly pick an URL closest to current browsing URL.
So probably all you need is to just move the PDF file to the right place.
Thanks Edison
Yes that would have been the preferred option, but our page curator - created a new verion within the new gateway. But I've managed to get this to work.
For testing - I changed the webpath – to have "-old.pdf" then ensuring there were no "remaps" within the "Remap Manager" then added in the new remap on the new PDF and SUCCESS. I did try trashing the pdf first but I was still able to obtain it (possibly because of sys admin access).
But thanks for your response, I was just about to remove this posting (you were too quick) - but it may come in handy for others.
