Rendering "next asset" preview

(Oleg Voronin) #1

How would one go about linking to "next" and "previous" assets in a subset of related pages?

I was thinking of creating an asset listing that shows one asset per page, but I can't seem to find keywords other than %next_page% and %next_page_href%; what I want to accomplish is having a teaser preview rendered with the title and some metadata and perhaps using custom bodycopy for first&last items to have circular navigation.

Is there a squz way for this that I'm missing?

Not so sure how to achieve the circular navigation as you would need to have the format display something different for the first/last page in a result set and I can't think how to generate this.

As for the 'preview' of the nest asset you could do that with an asset listing of the pages you want. Set the listing to show 2 assets per page, then add a Position Format for position 2 - on this display format you can enter keywords for the stuff that you want to be shown from the next asset. Set the Default Format as you would normally.

If you want to show a preview for the next and previous pages, I would set the assets per page to 3, add a Position Format for page 2 again but this time make the format have the keywords of the current page the user is viewing and set the Default Format to have the keywords for the next/previous keywords.

Hope this helps a bit.
