Requirements for version 5.4

(Ryan Archer) #1

Matrix Version:

We are planning Squiz upgrade very soon and we know that the Squiz Matrix 5.4 release is imminent (Bart hinted at the end of Octover, Not able to use content template demos in Edit+)

Just want to see what the specific server requirements and specs that are necessary for that? In regards to LEMP stack, php, PostgreSQL, CentOS versions, etc.

We are currently on version 5.3.1.1 and need to scope out what we need to do to have our servers ready for the 5.4 release.

Are there any new requirements that differ from what is featured here? https://matrix.squiz.net/resources/requirements

@Bart - you got this one?

Thanks

Requirements will be the same but we are adding support for PHP5.6 so might be worth upgrading to that. We’re also dropping support for IE 8 - 10 for browsers.

Basically what’s here but with PHP5.6. https://matrix.squiz.net/resources/requirements#recommended-stack

However, I still strongly recommend you get further confirmation and recommendation from your Squiz Account manager so that they can recommend the best fit server stack for your purpose and situation.

Thanks Bart. That’s mighty helpful. When you say that you are dropping support for IE8-10 - that just means when using _admin or Edit+ features right? Will it impact on users on the front end when viewing websites? I highly doubt it but I thought I would just clarify.

Correct, just Admin and Edit+. Your front end website will support whatever you build support for in terms of the front end design.
