Restrict Backend users from using the System tools

Matrix Version: 5.3.4.2

I have a group of backend users.
I want to restrict their access so they are not able to use some/all of the System Tools (Asset Sort, Export Assets to XML, etc).

The only place where this seems to be remotely possible is through the Security Restrictions screen of the user group.

When I open that screen for the user group, I see all the tools listed in the ‘Add new type code to restrict’ field.

However, selecting any of them does not create any restrictions. The backend user can still access the tools and action them.

Am I missing something? Should I approach this differently? Or is this part of the system and the tools can simply not be restricted?

I will appreciate any help you can provide.

I can confirm that this doesn’t work. I think that this was simply an oversight and because the security restrictions feature mainly focuses on ‘screens’, it doesn’t apply to the tools because they don’t use the same “screens” as typical asset types such as “Details” and “Metadata” on things like Standard Pages.

It would be good to get this working and made possible though, and even just improving the usability overall of that security restrictions screen.

I’ll put a feature request for it.
