Same asset id - 2 different links- Wierd issue

Hi All,

We have a strange problem in our Public site. we have a mini google search and when we search for a file we get 2 different links but has the same asset id!!! The new link has the latest file and old link has the obsolete file.

say the new and latest link is -  http://www.abc.com/12345/newfile.pdf

old and obsolete link is - http://www.abc.com/12345/oldlostfile.pdf

so when we search through our matrix admin site, the asset id 12345 comes up only with newfile.pdf, and oldlostfile.pdf

doesn't seem to be anywhere inside the site.

Next I went to google index to remove the old link(http://www.abc.com/12345/oldlostfile.pdf), but then it says this url is live and hence cannot be removed from the index contact the webmaster.

So pulled the pdf file to another asset id and archived the asset id 12345, but then it resulted only in the new link being down (http://www.abc.com/12345/newfile.pdf), the old obsolete link is still active.

Any idea where this old link will be available, or how I can remove the obselete link. Thanks

We use Matrix Version v5.2.7.6

It sounds like this is a Google sitemap or search issue rather than Matrix.

What happens if you visit http://www.abc.com/12345/oldlostfile.pdfin your browser? Does it actually take you somewhere? Maybe there is a remap still active for this URL that takes you to the new one and Google Search index is retaining it because its a 301 redirect?
