can't seem to make the search functionality to work. Followed all the instructions within "modules user manual - search".
any help with screen shots of step by step instructions will be highly appreciated.
First thing to check is that the Search Manager is enabled.
In the System Management folder, go the Details screen of the Search Manager and ensure that Indexing is on.
the indexing is on.
i am going through the manual and trying to follow each step.
right now i am on the Asset Grouping. As per the manual i should be able to see
"Restrict types"
sort by
metadatafield etc. etc.
but all i see is "Sort order" "new group" i added a new group but still it comes up with new group.
but none of the above options as mentioned in the manual. i regenerated the metada a couple of times. Not sure if this was supposed to be done.
Asset grouping is used to group results together and is not required for search to work.
i have done everything, followed the manual "except asset grouping" everything is exactly same. But my search does not show up in the preview.
on page 32-34 of search module manual, i followed everything, but it does not show up at all.
did i miss something. Nothing shows up except for the side and top menu bars.
Are the assets you are searching for Live? By default, the search page will not return non-Live assets.
system is freezing, i am getting an error msg. "exceeds time limit of 30 seconds".
not live. will make it live now. the above issue, how do i handle that
IIRC, the server you are testing Matrix on is not very well spec'd (i.e. it has a slow processor and not a lot of RAM). You may just be running out of resources trying to perform an action.
What are you trying to do when you get that error?
i right clicked on search page and previewed it.
the below error occurs.
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /usr/share/pear/DB/pgsql.php on line 326
did i do anything wrong.
Is this appearing in the smaller frame where the preview usually appears? If so, it means your server cannot complete the search request within the 30 seconds allocated to PHP processes by default. This is not surprising, given the small amount of resources that server has.
both windows actually.
if the resources are the problem then, we will get back to you shortly on this. because search is really an important functionality for us in this pilot stage.
also in the discussion forum i would like to change my display settings like the client name, i would like to hide it, but it comes back to where it was, and now i can't see the same info in "Edit profile info" any more
pls advise.

Anytime you see that message it means that Matrix wasn’t able to complete its processing in the time allocated by PHP (30 seconds by default). It means that the database isn’t returning results in a timely fashion.
Also, that field is only visible to yourself and Squiz staff: It makes it easier for us to recognise who everyone is. Its not visible to other users (if you logout and view the forum, you’ll see!).
another thing i forgot to mention. another member of the group created a search page, even though it's only half working.
but atleast we are able to view it. Do you still reckon it is a server issue?
Yes: Depending on how the Search Page is configured, Matrix could be trying to search more/less information for each page. The broader the search configuration, the more likely your server will run out of resources.
i cloned the working system. and it is atleast not freezing.
i can't seem to find anywhere in the manual how to add a text field and display the results once the submit button is clicked.
- Within "Page Contents Asset" how do i make teh WYSIWYG editor appear. --select keyword is not appearing on the editor.
- how do i make "Search page editor" appear within "Search List"
- i could successfully display the fields within the search form, i have given the criteria of "name", "keyword", "title" (both keyword and title) from metadata, but no result seems to appear.
even though i have specificedi "yes" to "return blank results". how do i make the result appear.
MR3: I'm going to get your Account Manager to get in touch with you. I think perhaps a visit from a friendly local implementation specialist might be called for.
