Server suggestion

(Pomster09) #1

Hi guys

I'm wanting to run a development site on a Squiz Matrix platform. This will be installed on a virtual server on a PC at work. Does anyone have any suggestion as to what may be the easiest method of setting up this project, what virtual server works best? Do I need to install anything else to supports Matrix? Any good guidance or installation instructions?

Cheers

Steve

You could just download the VM that is provided of Matrix 5 and be done with it!

Thanks Nic. I tried that last night (only once I admit) and it was throwing up errors, something about needing 64 bit. I did install VMware player, and I see it has lots of different server choices, so maybe there's a way of installing it once I have the correct VM set up. Otherwise, does the Matrix 5 VM download come in a 64 bit version?

Using VMware player it should be pretty straight forward getting the VM from the manuals up and running, I don't believe there is a choice between 64 and 32 bit for you to choose from? Are you saying you can't get the demo Vm from the manuals site running at all using VMware player?

I have a pretty new HP PC and apparently virtualbox vt-x is disabled by default. I fixed it by logging in as administrator and turning it on. I had no problems after that, fired up a treat. Thanks guys
