Shadow Assets

I'm not sure if my suggestion box post on http://manuals.matrix.squizsuite.net/data/chapters/shadow-assetsworked or not (there wasn't a success message AFAIK) so reposting here:

 

It would be incredibly useful if the shadow assets page addressed what options there are for displaying, filtering or searching shadow assets - or which of those aren't possible.  

 

http://forums.squizsuite.net/index.php?showtopic=10399(Nov 2012 ) implies that you can't use searches with shadow assets and that you can't filter them - but

 

http://forums.squizsuite.net/index.php?showtopic=12625implies that you can filter shadow assets if you want a selection of them from a data source.

 

Some clarity would be useful in guiding decisions on importing data sets into Matrix.

Some of the functionality might be specific to the type of data source asset you are creating though, for example XML, RSS or JSON. 

 

Are you just after some general information on that page to say something like:

 

"Shadow assets can be filtered but not searched on using a Matrix search page."

 

That type of info?

Yes, something like that - we found the filtering solution posted in http://forums.squizsuite.net/index.php?showtopic=11377 but when I was checking the manuals I didn't see anything highlighting that the shadow assets weren't accessible from a search page.
