Showing pages only under a specific context

Hi,

We have a requirement for a multi-language site that supports not just multiple language versions of pages but also some pages unique to each language i.e. should not be visible in menus etc. on other languages.

Given asset status is not context enabled I can't see a way that we could accomplish this using contexts?

Thanks!

The best you can probably do is create a metadata field for stipulating when pages need to be a specific language only, and then use conditional keywords in Paint Layouts to prevent them from being printed.

You could also use link-value filtering (ie. set a specific link value on the Linking screen) and then filter that out in asset listings. Neither of these help you with menu areas though - you'll probably have to replace it with something else.

How often do you want to be doing this by the way? I'm wondering whether what you're actually trying to do is have separate sites? ie. do you want to customise the navigational structure a lot?

We have pretty much ruled out using contexts due to the menu issues you mention above and the added complexity. We are testing splitting the site into folders (en, fr, cn etc.) and seeing how this goes. A bit of a shame there is no way to set a page status per context etc. as this would have been far more elegent.
