I know I read somewhere where Greg mentioned that Matrix will be moving over to git in the future. Is there a timeline for this?
Would love to see it on github. So much easier to browse!

There are no current plans to migrate Matrix from CVS to Git.
We do use git for quite a lot of development within Squiz Labs, but moving Matrix over would be a very big project and something we'd have to plan for over quite a long period of time given it changes the way we work and changes all our internal scripts, systems, release process etc. I'm not sure when we could fit something like that in.
Having a sync to a git repo is certainly possible, and it could be hosted on github like our other projects, but given the Matrix team wouldn't treat it as an authoritative repository and wouldn't actually use the github site, I'm not sure what benefit it would provide. We couldn't accept pull requests through there, for example, as it would be a one-way push.

I think the one reason to at least have a read-only copy on git would be to just help the idea that Squiz Matrix is open source. Git seems to be the definitive place to have open-source projects and I think prospective users might expect to see it there. I can see Squiz benefiting from this.
