Stored Search - Search Field - Multiple Values

I'm using Stored Search and want to search for multiple values on a single Search Field.

The Search Field is set up to look through metadata.

 

It's no problem to add an additional mapping to the field: Select the Search Field, select Source (Set Value) and all looks dandy.

However, only the top value 'works'; the second is ignored. If i swap the two values, the resutls change - only the first specified value is ever used.

 

If i implement this as two distinct search fields it works fine - on both search fields - but I am then forced to choose 'Any' for the word logic which removes the flexibility I need.

 

Any ideas on this, please?

If you are searching for multiple values on one search field, can't you just add both values into the same stored search field? Separated by a space? It would be like the front end user typing in 2 words into a single search field.
