Support for Tagging screen in Edit+

Hi,

 

Is there a way to turn on tagging in Edit+ via the normal Tagging screen or does the use of Thesauri have to be done via a metadata field?

 

(One reason I am asking is that Related Asset Listing pages allow for a Thesaurus filter but it only seems to pay attention if the term is added on the Tagging screen - which is not there on Edit+)

This is in our product road map as Idea #2135, and was up for review for early this year but got pushed back again in favor of asset search, which will be available very soon.

Since the Tagging screen is not on Edit+ but is required for the Thesaurus filter to work on Related Asset listings, do you know how other customers get around this at the moment?

I'll put the word out and see what comes up. You could probably implement a custom solution via the plugin system but it would get rather complex very quickly.

I remember for one site we built we ended up using the Set Tag trigger action when a metadata field was edited. So the trigger event would be after metadata updated, and condition would be Metadata Field Updated. 

 

The challenge would be to remove any tags when a user de-selects a metadata field value, but depending on how many different tags you have, the first action of the trigger could be to remove all tags first, and then set the ones that are in the metadata value dynamically.

Thanks Bart, I believe triggers were the way to go in previous solutions/workarounds for others. Some via metadata screen, others AJAX like via posts to simple edit from custom plugin related additions.
