Hi,
Our company is a client and currently Squiz are building a site for us. Using the same system, I have started building another site within a folder on the root of the system. I am logged in as a System Administrator, but when I try to preview the website I have created - which has a valid index page, URL and design - I get a login box with "You do not have permission to access…".
The site is fully under construction at the moment, for obvious reasons, but if I do put a page live it can then be previewed.
I'm a bit stuck. Is there a setting I am missing that means an ordinary System Administrator should be unable to preview this site when it is under construction?
Thanks
System admins can always view and edit any content. You don't happen to be editing at one domain and previewing another do you? This would mean you are not logged into the domain you are previewing. Does the login box say you are logged in as a user or Not Logged In?
Genius! That's exactly what I was doing. Because the site that Squiz are building is the only address I knew off the top of my head I accessed the system through that. That's on a different domain to the other site I am building, hence it didn't work to preview it.
Thanks very much for the quick reply.
