Trigger Action - Remove Links Help

(Pwoodhouse) #1

Just wondering if anyone can see what I am missing with this one?

We are trying to setup a Bundle asset to bulk approve our online course brochures and need the links removed from the bundle asset when the status changes to live.

See screen capture attached for current configuration.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Cheers

Hey Paula,

Just wondering if the matrix logs are offering any idea if the trigger is error ing. Could you attempt to run the trigger and check the error logs and the system logs.

The links to the bundle would be notice links so I am wondering if you have to specifically define the link type.?

(Nic Hubbard) #3

I would try setting a Linked Asset Type. That could be a required field.

(Pwoodhouse) #4

Yeah, thanks Nic.

I had tried that and no cigar :) That is, I set it as asset type "Bundle" as the manuals said it was the asset type of the parent.

Tried standard page also just in case, also didnt work.

There must be something simple I am missing and has to be to do with the action "Remove Links"???

(Pwoodhouse) #5

Hey Fuzz,

No joy with the link type

Error logs are not offering much help...

(Nic Hubbard) #6

So the firing asset is a standard page, and the Bundle asset is where? A child or parent of the Page?

The Remove Links action is for removing links from the firing asset and its parents. So, if the Bundle isn't a parent of the firing Standard Page, then that action isn't going to work.

(Pwoodhouse) #7

Yep I can confirm parent is the bundle asset, child is a standard page. Just wanting to remove the link when it changes to live.

(Pwoodhouse) #8

I thought it would be simple, but am obviously missing something :(

Screen capture of asset map attached.

Bundle Asset - OCB Bulk Approval #1020713 (Parent)

Standard Page - Allied Health and Pharmacy #4467 (firing page when changes to live)

Any other ideas? I'll add an email event and see if I can troubleshoot from there. trigger-bundle.png (8.21 KB)

I'm assuming you want to remove the link to the bulk approve folder? If so your tree location condition target & remove link action target are the wrong way around I think.

(Pwoodhouse) #10

Thanks J.P, but the condition has to be when an asset under the bulk approve goes live. Unless I am looking at this the wrong way. We don't want to cast the net too wide, so to speak.

Does anyone have a working example that I could see the asset details screen for?

(Pwoodhouse) #11

Trigger details screen that is, using action - "Remove Links" ?

(Nic Hubbard) #12

Is the asset also linked elsewhere?

(Pwoodhouse) #13

Yes, it is linked from our courses area as well.

Asset #4434 in the screen capture.

Would it help if I made the Bundle a child of the same parent?

(Pwoodhouse) #14

I am still struggling with this one.

The idea behind it is to create a link under the bundle when the standard page (a course page) moves into safe edit for bulk approval. I have setup the trigger for this and all is working perfectly.

Now when the same standard page is progressed to a live status from the bundle asset cascading it's status, the link then needs to be removed.

I have added a link value in the Remove Links Action (bulk-approve) and checked the box "Only where Candidate Assets are Directly Linked to the Root Node".

Can anyone tell me the definition of a broadcast asset? Just want to make sure this is right.

Any other ideas?

Thanks heaps

Paula

hrm, I think you have a mismatch in your triggering event and conditions

you've selected the "status changed" event and added a "status being changed to" condition

try using the "asset status" condition instead of the "status being changed to" condition

I also think the root node in your trigger action should be the bulk approve asset, not the live site.

Thanks everyone for contributing to this one, problem now solved.

Mehmood has been awarded "legend" status :)

I needed the condition to be targeting one level up and the bundle asset to be located in a folder.

See attached screen capture of trigger settings.
