Using animated gifs

(Carl Routledge) #1

Is it possible to use animated gifs in standard pages?
I have added one into the Media Folder but when i use it on a page it isn't animating. Its just showing the initial image (frame).

There should be no problem with animated gifs. Is the image asset live with public read access? What URL is being generated for it?

(Carl Routledge) #3

Yep the image asset is live and public have read access. I've inserted it into the contents for a standard page using the insert image button. Will this effect it?

Even when i add the gif as an image into the media folder and then click the Current File link to preview the file it doesn't animate.

Any chance you can attach the file here so we can try it out.

(Carl Routledge) #6

I'm unable to attach a file. There is no option to attach.

(Greg Sherwood) #7

Oh okay. Must be some setting on the forums.
Can you email to me?

(Carl Routledge) #8

I must still be a sleep cause when i click the e-mail button under you details there is no attach button in there either.

I have enabled uploads to the forum for Squiz Clients. You should now see an attachment box when posting.

Nope can't see anything to do with attachments when adding a reply.

Sorry, try again. Had to change the forum permissions as well as the member group permissions.

It’s just a simple light bulb image but for some reason it won’t animate. I’ve tied another image as well and that does the same.
lightbulb.gif (6.8 KB)

Works fine for me in a DEV version, but nothing changed from 3.4 for this. The image at http://beta.squiz.net/a_dev/_media/lightbulb.gif is being served through Matrix.

Ok my bad. On my XP Machine with IE6 the setting to do with animations wasn't checked…

I didn't even know there was such a setting.

Thanks for your help.
