What is the Future for Easy Edit Suite Users?

(K Dennis) #1

I see from the Manuals that:

"Please note that the Easy Edit Suite is no longer supported and is only compatible up to Squiz Matrix v4.18.5. "

Does that mean users of the Easy Edit Suite are stuck in 2013-14 with version 4.18.5 forever?

Or is there a possibility that one day there might be an opensource successor?

If I were Squiz, I'd be releasing Viper as open source, retaining the other elements of Edit+ as commercial, notably all the accessibility tools.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the WYSIWYG editor in 5 if you don't buy Edit+?

The standard previous Matrix WYSIWYG. :(

Yes, the Easy Edit Suite up to version 1.5.0 is only compatible with Matrix versions in the 4.X branch. There are no plans at this stage to release an open source version of this tool for Matrix 5.

And yes, as Nic said, the old standard WYSIWYG is still supported in Matrix 5. It has been improved slightly over the Matrix 4 version.
