Where have you been hiding?

hi guys

I've spent a couple of weeks evaluating different CMS's, and I had settled on typo3 until I found Matrix (via frustrated googling for help with typoscript). I only have limited exposure to typo3 and matrix, but matrix wins hands down.

any idea when the developer documentation will be available? That's the only thing I need to evaluate, but if the rest of the system is anything to go by, I'm sure it'll be great.

great work

I'm writing the real developer documentation at the moment. We have generated API documentation using PHPDocumentor which you can get a copy of in HTML or CHM format (or you can download PHPDocumentor and generate it from the Matrix source code).

The documentation project for developers is starting to kick in. We are trying to write docs that will explain all parts of the system, the design decisions made, how things work, and include heaps of example code to get people started. There will also be tutuorials on how to perform tasks such as creating assets.

It takes time though, and most of our development efforts are focused on new features (of which there are a lot in active development). So, you'll have to wait for extensive developer documentation I'm affraid.

If you are evaluating, I can get you a draft copy of one of the developer doc sections to look at and give you an idea of the kind of thing we are working towards.

glad to see I'm not the only one working on boxing day!

sorry but my original post wasn't very clear: I want to evaluate the API and development process rather than the documentation itself, but I'd still appreciate the draft copy docs mentioned.

I'd like to contribute too but my coding skills are intermediate at best. However, if you need proofreaders/writers for the docs, just holler.

I've sent you an email with the details. I will try and get the API docs on the web site this week sometime.
